Based on the video I found that cultural literacy goes “beyond the classroom”. It said that when someone learns its better to learn “content” rather than the concept. Breaking this down, it means that its better to know what you’re learning about rather than to know what you’re learning. Furthermore, you must know what the words mean in a sentence to understand what the sentence truly means.I personal feel that we can connect this logic to our class. In our english class Dr. Sherry is more interested in what we can learn and take from the class rather than having a “typical” english class. Overall I feel this way of learning is far more powerful than traditional learning. It breaks the “boring” pattern of the typical classroom and allows the student to engage in “realistic” learning by listening and talking with other students. In the video they mention that the “creater” is very unpopular with schools and the learning world. I personally think this is because schools are afraid to break the norm of a learning pattern that has been developed over hundreds of years. In conclusion, I feel that although this style of learning is unrecognized and not popular it will become the basis of learning in every class to develop the minds of students in the future.
